Anthocyanins and T2 diabetes

Dark fruits are a valuable part of your daily diet!
A diet rich in the anthocyanins found in dark fruits and berries, among them haskap berry abundant in those, can favorably promote glycemic control.

A 20-year US epidemiological study found a 1.5- to 2-fold reduction in the risk of developing type 2 diabetes in people consuming 22-24 mg of anthocyanins daily (Wedick 2012). Many humans studies in type 2 diabetes with a high dietary anthocyanin content show a reduction in fasting glucose levels, a reduction in cellular resistance to insulin, and an improvement in HbA1C, an indicator that shows good diabetes control (Cao 2018).

Recent studies in diabetic animals show that anthocyanins improve kidney function (Li 2022) and combination therapy of metformin ( the basic drug for treating type 2 diabetes) with anthocyanins showed a synergistic effect in lowering blood glucose levels (Tian 2022).

It's worth enriching your daily diet with dark berries, now available in the form of preserves: juices, jams or dried at low temperature to protect anthocyanins - like our BIOHASKAP powder
