Haskap berry and sugar level
Haskap berry is a source of anthocyanins, health-promoting phytochemicals that inhibit the digestion of carbohydrates in the intestines. This is beneficial in type 2 diabetes, as it reduces the rapid release of glucose into the blood by foods with a high glycemic index.
According to a study conducted by Anna Podsędek, Ph.D., haskap berry showed the strongest inhibitory activity of all berries, and the order of potency was as follows: haskap berry - gooseberry - blueberry - blueberry - black currant - cherry - grape - red gooseberry. As is well known, delayed carbohydrate digestion is an important part of controlling postprandial hyperglycemia in diabetic patients. (Podsędek 2014)
Therefore, it is worth introducing haskap berry into the diet if you limit sugar in it. We recommend its powdered concentrate.
